Yoga Therapy Defined
What is Yoga Therapy Anyway?

Yoga Therapy applies yoga postures, breathing, and meditation to specific conditions. For example, Yoga Therapy protocols for anxiety can be very different than for autoimmune issues. This is more in depth than what is provided in a standard yoga class.
Yoga Therapists have up to 1000 hours of training in addition to their original 200 hour teacher training! This extra education provides Yoga Therapists the knowledge to target specific health concerns in ways that Yoga Teachers don't. The International Association of Yoga Therapists oversees our profession and ensures the highest level of training for it’s therapists.
Yoga Therapy sessions are usually one-on-one or in small groups in order to give you a more personalized level of care.

Because of this specified training, yoga therapy an be used in many different settings and for many different health conditions. This can include anxiety, depression, long Covid, surgery rehab, back pain, sleep problems, or that shoulder pain that just doesn't seem to go away.

Yoga therapy is a relatively new and growing field. I'm excited to be a part of it!
